I illustrated a pic of my dad and I for his father’s day gift!
Last month one of my closest friends got hitched! **Cue the wedding bells. I had the pleasure of doing her wedding stationary and I love how everything turned out. The couple knew they wanted a monogram with their initials and gold foil for the invitation. With metallics as their wedding colors, I had the freedom to explore. We decided on floral accents to accompany the monogram and thread into the Details and RSVP card. The stationary suite came out perfect and ended up being the icing on the (wedding) cake! Pun intended.
Thanks Andre Brown for the beautiful photography!
A collection of updates and all of my favorite things in the month of May
The Home Team May Screenings
This month, The Home Team had another sold out screening at Mother Bar + Kitchen on Edgewood Ave, in Atlanta, GA! I love seeing people watching my film and hearing thoughts and reviews. It can be daunting to have people judge your work but I am so proud of my team and I and every screening I get so excited just like our very first showing. To stay up to date on future screenings and how to get involved visit thehometeamfilm.com.

The Art Institute - The People Shall Govern! Exhibit
Last week I had the chance to visit The Art Institute of Chicago’s exhibit “The People Shall Govern!” featuring anti apartheid posters from South Africa. It was an amazing exhibit! The posters were full of color, amazing illustrations and most of all, passion for ending apartheid. More than 60 posters, and over 70 artifacts (vinyls, magazines, books etc) were on view. It was very inspirational and makes me want to dive more into art that has a social impact. I absolutely LOVED this exhibit and highly recommend if you visit Chicago. It will be going on until September!
Ladies Wine Design - Chicago
I love the Ladies Wine Design organization and went to events when I lived in Atlanta. I am happy that I discovered them in Chicago as well. This month I was able to attend the May event, “Introverts Unite: Creating Creative Community”. I am not an introvert by any means but I still felt like this event was speaking to me! I think creating a creative community is so important and moving to a new city where I don’t know other creatives is very hard to do. I am so glad I went to meet other lovely lady designers in Chi town.
This month I picked up Freelance, and Business, and Stuff by Hoodzpah. It was such a simple yet super packed book about how to create, start and streamline your freelance business. Even though it was centered around freelancing, It gave helpful advice that I can also apply to my paper company Neighborly. It was such an awesome and inspiring book, I highly suggest it for those in the creative field!
Candy & Snacks Expo
The Candy & Snacks Expo is a yearly event in Chicago where candy and snack makers from all over the world come to showcase their products in hopes of getting picked up by new vendors. I got to attend this year for research on new trends and packaging design on behalf of my client Mars-Wrigley. It was very inspiring! I LOVED seeing all the cool packaging and trying all the samples :)
